Securing you Wifi

So, when hackers are all around and hacking WiFi has become so easy as a child's play, how will a person paying monthly WiFi bills will prevent others from using free Internet. Below is the answer to the question- a simple tutorial to secure your WiFi router:

STEPS

1. Keep a WPA/WPA2 security password instead of WEP. It many, many, many time easier for a hacker to hack a WEP passwords.

2. Keep a long password. Don't get surprised if i tell you that maximum number of you will be having your Phone Number or Date of Birth as password. Yup!! It's easier easier for hackers to know your phone number and use free internet.

3. Use Complex Password. Don't just use a word which is easily available in English Dictionary. Use a combination of alphabets, Upper Case and lower case letter,  numbers and special characters. (Eg.  IpromI5e!w!llkeEp@tuffpa55word)

Note: The more longer and complex password you use, the more time it will take to hack. A complex password can take even months and months to be cracked

4. Use MAC Filtering. Enable only those devices which belong to you. Thus, if a cracker is able to crack your password, but still he won't be able to connect to WiFi

5. Use LAN Management. Approve only the Devices which belong to you with their respective MAC addresses .

6. Disable SSID Broadcasting.

So, if you have taken the following precaution. There is no one who will use your wifi without your permission.
