How to add a godaddy domain to blogger

With Blogging getting popular day by day , it became very easy for everyone to start their own blogs especially when platforms like Blogger, Wordpress, Tumlbr provide you a easy and free access. But it becomes a bit expensive (not too much) when you host you blog when you host your blog on a host provider with wordpress. That's when Blogger comes into place, it allows us to create a good, easy to manage, elegant blog. It also allows us to add a custom domain which does not cost more than $10 (That's the maximum price). That's the reason, why i chose Blogger to host this blog. So, below is a step-by-step guide on adding a custom domain to blogger which is registered to godaddy.

STEPS:

1. Go to blogger settings and then go to basic settings.  You will see Blog Address option under the publishing category. Click on set-up a third party url for blog

2. This brings you a text box to write in your domain. Type your purchased domain there. Note: Make sure you type www. Now hit Save

3. This brings you a error, which will be corrected now. Copy the Destination next to www i.e. ghs.google.com.

4. Now go to your Domains page. Go to edit DNS. We will change the CNAME records. Click the pencil icon beside the @ in the www line . Replace the @ with ghs.google.com copied above.

5. Now click on Quick add. Go back to the screenshot in point 3. Copy the second name and destination and paste them in their followng place. Now click on the Save Zone File button

6. We are half way done. Now go back to blogger and click the setting instructions link as show in the screenshot below.

7. This opens you a new page. Scroll down till you find 4 IP's written (see image below)

8. Now hit the quick add button below A(Host). Type @ in the place of host and first IP in Points to place. Repeat this step with remaining four IP's

9. After completing the above step. It should look something thing this in the below image.

8. Go back to your blog. Type the web address again and hit save. This time it should be save. The last step is to forward you domain example.com to www.example.com

That's it . You are simply done. Wait for about an hour and your domain will start working. If it isn't repeat the while tutorial again. Make sure you perform every step, skipping a step will result in not working, crappy domain. This is how i created a my blog hackerslite.in .
